Environmental Demographer; Climate Mobility, Livelihood Adaptation, and Resource Security Policy within Rural Coastal Communities


J. Huntley Compton is dedicated to ensuring the East Caribbean islands thrive as a beacon of environmental and economic sustainability for future generations.

Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Rural Sociology & Demography, Her research focuses on climate mobility patterns, resource security for host Caribbean nations, and rural/coastal livelihood adaptation.

She earned an M.A. in Sustainable Int'l Development from Brandeis University and a B.M.S. in Multidisciplinary Studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, specializing in International Political Science, World History, and Sociology.

Before Penn State, J. managed operations and consulted for retail, nonprofit, and political organizations for over a decade. These roles enhanced her interpersonal skills and prepared her for a career in multistakeholder engagement and collaboration for community development and beyond.
